Choice of Profile
Zylo pipe casings are manufactured in four profile shapes. The names “L”, “U”, “R” and “C” reflect the profile shape. The “L” and “U” profiles are formed with a 90° angle, whereas the “R” and “C” profiles are formed with a 120° angle giving a 30° slope from the horizontal. The two sided casings are used in both horizontal and vertical applications. Three sided casings are used mainly for vertical risers and ducts.
Sizes
All casings are manufactured in standard lengths of 2400mm. There are a wide range of sizes with matching fittings available, to enable a neat and efficient installation. Non-standard sizes which do not appear in our literature can usually be manufactured to special order.
Construction
Zylo pipe casings are manufactured from an inner core of 9mm moisture resistant medium density fibreboard formed and pressed into various angled profiles and bonded to an outer covering of white resin impregnated foil, or a high performance white laminate. The resulting profile has a neat radius bend of 7.5mm, compared with 26mm or more for steam bent plywood profiles, and a much harder surface finish which does not rag like plywood when trimmed.
Fittings
Proprietary, 90 degree inside and outside corners are available for all profile shapes and sizes. This eliminates untidy on site mitred joints, speeds up and simplifies installation, ensuring a professional finish every time. Cover strips are formed from an extruded aluminum profile specifically designed to act as a connection piece and slip joint. We recommend these to be used at all butt joints.
Standard Finishes
Two seamless hygienic finishes are available as follows
Medium Duty Foil (white) Self finish or serves as a base and undercoat for a painted finish.
High Duty Laminate (white gloss) For bathrooms, kitchens, public areas, etc
